Looking for a web design agency near you?
Here is what actually separates a good agency from an expensive one — the questions worth asking, what the work should cost, and what to be wary of. Useful whether or not you end up working with us.
Six questions worth asking any agency.
Including us. If an agency gets uncomfortable with any of these, that is the answer.
Ask who actually builds it
Plenty of agencies sell the work and then send it offshore. That is not automatically bad, but you should know before you sign, because it decides how long every future change takes and who you can actually reach when something breaks.
Ask what happens if you leave
Can you take the site with you? Who owns the domain, the hosting account, the content? If the answer is vague, the site is leverage rather than an asset. Ours goes with you.
Ask to see the page speed, not the design
Anyone can show you a pretty screenshot. Ask them to run a real page-speed test on a site they built, on a phone, on mobile data. Most small-business sites fail there, and speed is what decides whether a visitor stays.
Ask what the monthly fee buys
Hosting? Updates? Actual marketing work? "Maintenance" can mean anything from real monthly effort to a hosting bill with a markup. Get it itemised.
Ask about lockup contracts
A long contract is a business protecting itself against you leaving. If the work is good you do not need to be tied in. We do not use them.
Ask who answers the phone
If your point of contact is an account manager who relays messages to a team you never meet, expect slow, lossy changes. Small agencies win on this and it matters more than most people expect.
Local to Florida's Nature Coast, working across the country.
We are in Homosassa Springs, and a good share of our work is within driving distance — Citrus, Marion, Levy and the surrounding counties, where knowing the area genuinely helps with local search. The build itself does not care where you are: we work with small businesses across the United States, and you will still be talking to the person doing the work.
Questions people ask before hiring
What does a small-business website actually cost?
Most small-business sites land in the low thousands, depending on how many pages there are and whether the content already exists. Be suspicious of anything quoted before someone has asked what the site needs to do — and equally suspicious of a very low price attached to a long contract.
How long does it take?
Typically 2–4 weeks once content is settled. Content is almost always the bottleneck, not the build — the sites that take months are usually waiting on copy and photos, not code.
Do I need to be local to work with a web design agency?
No. We are based in Homosassa Springs, Florida and work with businesses across the country. Being local helps when you want someone to sit down with you, and for local SEO it helps that we know the area — but it is not a requirement for the build itself.
Will a new website actually get me found on Google?
Not on its own. A fast, well-structured site is the requirement, not the result. Ranking comes from that plus ongoing work — local pages, a properly managed Google Business Profile, and content over time. Anyone promising a #1 ranking is selling something they cannot deliver.
Can you fix the site I already have instead?
Often, yes, and it is usually cheaper. If the foundation is sound we would rather fix speed, structure and SEO than charge you for a rebuild you do not need. If it is built on something that cannot be made fast, we will tell you that too.
